SOUTHWICK – The Greater Westfield Chamber of Commerce and Southwick’s Economic Development Commission held its first Community Marketplace Sip & Shop Event at the Ranch Gold Club on April 24.  According to Kate Phelon, Executive Director of the Westfield Chamber, 47 vendors signed up for the event, which was free to the public.

“We are so excited about this. It’s a new model,” Phelon said at the event.  At this one, vendors rented tables where they had an opportunity to market and sell their products and services to area residents and businesses. There were also free appetizers, cash bar, a beer and wine tasting, and live music.

Phelon said this was the fourth or fifth collaboration between the Chamber and Southwick’s Economic Development Commission and director Michael McMahon. “We want this to grow,” she said.

Phelon said the emphasis at the Marketplace was on “Buy Local, Shop Local,” adding that member-to-member events like this support the local economy.
