WESTFIELD – The Westfield Food Pantry will once again offer free meal pickups this Saturday.

The meals, which this week will be provided by Delaney’s Market, are available to anyone.

Robin Cooley, a pantry volunteer, said the meals are offered behind the Episcopal Church of the Atonement on Court Street April 25 from 5-6 p.m. Participants should enter the rear parking lot from Pleasant Street and drive up to receive meals.

Volunteers will also be handing out bagged groceries.

“We handed out about 75 bags last week,” Cooley said.

The Delaney Market meals are made possible through funds raised online for the purpose of providing a weekend meal to residents. Normally, the Food Pantry is not open on Saturdays, however, pantry board members wanted to share the groceries they would normally distribute and help fill a meal gap because the school and Boys and Girls Club distribute meals on weekdays.

The Westfield Food Pantry is currently closed due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The groceries distributed on Saturday are pre-bagged and include staples such as peanut butter, cereal, pasta and more. Free Saturday meals will be distributed throughout the pandemic.
