WESTFIELD — Tickets for the return of the annual Ghost Tours have been selling briskly, in advance of the interactive historical tour of the Old Burying Ground in which local officials volunteer to dress up historical characters from Westfield.

Tours will run tonight and tomorrow night, Oct. 1 and 2. On Thursday morning, the Westfield Athenaeum, which handled advance sales, reported some tickets remained for the 8:30 p.m. tours on both days. Tickets will not be sold at the Athenaeum on Friday and Saturday; if any spaces remain on the 8:30 p.m. tours, Historical Commission volunteers will sell the $10 tickets at the start of the tours themselves.

Tour participants will see the graves of deceased prominent Westfield residents such as the Rev. Edward Taylor, Hannah Noble, and the Dewey family. Standing next to some of those gravestones will be living residents of Westfield playing the role of the person buried there.
