Hough, Thresher, O’Toole to putt in states

WILBRAHAM – Southwick golfer Jake Hough is not ready to put away the clubs yet.
Hough shot an 81 at the Western Massachusetts Division II golf championships Monday to place fifth overall at Wilbraham Country Club. Hough will move on to tee off against the state Monday at Blackstone National Golf Club in Sutton.
Nate Patterson, of Frontier was the day’s headliner, hitting six straight birdies to finish with a 2-over par 74.
Drury won the team competition with a 336, with Frontier (341) and Cathedral (346) placing second and third, respectively. Southwick was seventh (370).
Chris Molta (95), Robert Hamel (97), Joseph Stratton (97), Patrick Mahoney (102), and Nicholas Labodycz (104) also participated for the Rams.

DIVISION I
AGAWAM – Longmeadow won the Western Massachusetts Division I championship with a 320 team total, and Mike Sarkis, of East Longmeadow claimed the individual title with a 77 at Crestview Country Club Monday.
Jeremy Doody had Westfield’s best finish of the day, shooting an 86.
Chris Paradis (93), Dan Hickson (94), Colin Dunn (95), John Kiefer (100), and Connor Sullivan (103) also participated for the Bombers, who surged into the championships with some key victories down the stretch.
DIVISION III
AMHERST – Hopkins Academy may have won the D3 championships Monday at Hickory Ridge Golf Club, and Franklin Tech’s Cody Booska (2-under par 70) may have repeated as the individual champ, but two local favorites from the Whip City also had reason to celebrate.
St. Mary’s Sam Thresher, who shot a 79, and Danny O’Toole (80) will represent the school at next Monday’s state championship at Wyantenuck Country Club in Great Barrington.
Both made the cut at WMass.
