Hurricanes topple Bombers; Briand unbeaten

WESTFIELD – The Amherst Hurricanes managed to escape the Whip City with a 3-2 win over the Westfield Bombers in a boys’ tennis match Friday.
Despite the loss, Westfield’s top singles player, Loeiz Briand remained unbeaten at first singles with a resounding 6-0, 6-0 win over Amherst’s James Kirwan.
Jacob Barbeiri defeated Jordan Hill in Westfield’s lone other win at third singles, 6-1, 6-4. Bombers’ Chris Unger lost a tough match to Amherst’s Aiden Leith, 7-6, (7-5), 6-2.
