WHS softball stays unbeaten; baseball edged

WHS blanks WS to improve to 12-0
WEST SPRINGFIELD – That’s win number 12 for the Westfield High School softball team for anyone keeping track.
Westfield remained unbeaten (12-0) with a 3-0 shutout of West Springfield at Mitteneague Park Friday.
Kate Menard scattered seven hits, struck out three batters and walked one in a complete-game victory on the mound for Westfield.
Emily Chrzanowski (hit), Maddy Atkocaitis (2-for-4), Katelyn Puza (2-4, RBI), Sarah McNerney (walk, RBI), and Lexi Minicucci (hit, RBI) contributed offensively for the Bombers.
“It was a good win for us, and another league game so we’re marching on,” Westfield coach Joe Stella said.

EAST LONGMEADOW – Westfield pitcher Matt Irzyk scattered seven hits, and Bombers’ Chris Sullivan and Nate Barnes drove in one run each.
