WESTFIELD – The Westfield High School boys’ lacrosse team’s postseason run came to an end this past weekend.
On Saturday, the No. 5 Amherst Hurricanes invaded the Whip City, storming past the fourth-seeded Westfield Bombers with a second half surge, en route to a 15-13 victory. The Hurricanes outscored the Bombers, 8-4, over the last two quarters.
Drew Kosloski (5 goals, 3 assists) and Kieran Presley (4 goals, 5 assists) led the attack for Amherst (13-7). Westfield’s Matt Lacroix finished with four goals and an assist. Ryan Wilson had three goals and three assists for the Bombers (14-6).
The celebration would have been short-lived, even had the Bombers won in the end. The winner earns a trip to top-seeded unbeaten Longmeadow (21-0), a 17-4 winner over Agawam.
