WESTFIELD – As players – and fans – continued to be plagued by heat exhaustion – Janesville (Wisconsin) kept the pedal to the medal, rallying past a gassed Westfield squad on Day 4 of the Babe Ruth Baseball World Series.
Janesville rallied from a 2-1 deficit to defeat Westfield Sunday at Bullens Field.

Westfield responded, seizing the lead in the second with two outs. Walter Figueroa hit a lead-off bunt single, stole second base, advanced to third on a sacrifice, and scored on a wild pitch. Mason Collingwood, who reached on a hit-by-pitch scored when Matthew Pelletier singled to left field.
Janesville reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the fourth. A multitude of errors, wild pitches, passed balls, and an Overley RBI hit helped Wisconsin take a 5-2 edge. That score would stand.
Dalton Madsen was solid on the mound for Janesville.
Other than a hiccup in the third inning, the Janesville starter went six strong innings, scattering four hits while striking out four and allowing just two walks.
“I had a few struggling innings, and I gave up a few pretty good hits, but I was hitting pretty good today,” Madsen said after the game.
Dawson Draves came on to close out the seventh. Draves did not allow a hit or walk.
