WESTFIELD: John Joseph Smith, Jr., 64, (1957 – 2021) passed away on Friday, October 22, 2021, at his home in Westfield, MA.
John was a free spirit and very strong. He had a personality that was full of faith and perseverance.
John was born on May 12, 1957, in LaPuente, California to John J. Smith, Sr., and Dorothy Helen (May) Smith. The family returned to Massachusetts when John was 10. He has resided in Westfield ever since. John was a lover of nature and animals and had a gift of communicating and bonding with them. John enjoyed playing guitar, a lifelong hobby he shared with other family members. John enjoyed and took great pride in maintaining his Swedish engineered Volvo.
John was a devoted son, spending the past several years caring for his beloved mother along with his sister Laurel.
John is predeceased by his father John Smith, Sr., his brother-in-law Albert Lemarier, and his nephew James Lemarier.
He is survived by his Dear Mother, Dorothy Smith of Westfield, MA, his sisters, Laurel Meyers and her husband Jason of Agawam, MA, April Kimes of Palm Coast, FL, Suzanne Lemarier of Chester, MA and Linda McCorkindale and her husband Donald of Westfield, MA along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members. He will be missed most by his “Baby Girl”, Ginger his calico cat.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 – 6:00 PM on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at Westfield Funeral Home, 4 Princeton St., Westfield, MA 01085. The funeral begins at 9:30 AM on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at Westfield Funeral Home proceeding to St. Mary’s Church, 30 Bartlett St., Westfield, MA for a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Westfield, MA.
