WESTFIELD – Westfield State senior Kelsey Johnstone (Southwick/Westfield HS) has been named the Little East Conference Swimmer of the Week for the week ending November 3.
Johnstone won three events to help the Westfield State University women’s swimming and diving team place third at the 2019 Louise Goodrum Invitational Meet hosted by UMASS-Dartmouth on Saturday.
Johnstone topped the 50-yard breaststroke (32.16), 500-yard freestyle (5:45.68), and 100-yard individual medley (1:06.22). Johnstone also was fifth in the 50-yard freestyle.
The relay team of Johnstone, Kait Kelly, Carly Thibodeau, and Sarah Sartoris placed second in the 200m relay with a time for 2:01.21.
Westfield State will be back in the pool on Wednesday, Nov. 13 when the Owls host their home opener in a dual meet against local rival Western New England University with a 6:00 p.m. start. – Courtesy of Westfield State University Sports
