12:57 a.m.: trespassing, Half Mile Falls Park, a dispatcher reports security monitors showed two persons in the park, the respond officer reports both parties were advised of the applicable city ordinance and left the park without incident;
8:31 a.m.: breaking and entering, Heggie Drive, a caller reports his vehicle was broken into and property was stolen, the responding officer reports the caller said that the vehicle had been parked in his driveway overnight and in the morning cash was found to be missing from the vehicle;
12:31 p.m.: suspicious activity, Third Avenue, a caller reports a telephone scam, the responding officer reports she received a phone call from a male party who advised her that she had won $5 million, the woman said the man told her that to claim the money she had to send him $185, the officer reports that when he called the number provided by the caller he reached a voice mail box, the woman was advised that the call was an attempt to defraud her;
12:48 p.m.: found property, Elm St., a caller from the Southwick police reports that the victim of a larceny in their community reports finding some stolen jewelry in a city store, the respond officer reports that the clerk said that a colleague had bought some jewelry items from a person but failed to properly record the seller’s personal information, the case was referred to the Detective Bureau;
1:09 p.m.: fire, Powder Mil Village, 126 Union St., a caller reports a fire smoldering in a trash container, the responding firefighters report the fire was extinguished;
5:18 p.m.: found property, East Main Street, a caller reports a customer left a pouch containing cash and a license in a store and store officials have been unable to contact the woman, the dispatcher reports an attempt contact the owner was not immediately successful;
6:20 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Springfield Road, a patrol officer reports he observed a vehicle operating with an expired inspection sticker, the vehicle was stopped and the operator was found to have only a learner’s permit, the officer checked the license of the other occupant of the vehicle and found that although his license was active he was the subject of an outstanding warrant, David Lawrence Barnett, 24, of 22 Benton St., Springfield, was arrested on the warrant.
