Emergency Response and Crime Report

12:01 a.m.: weather complaint, Paper Mill Road, a caller reports a tree limb in the roadway, the DPW was notified and responded, the roadway was cleared by 1:42 a.m.;
12:17 a.m.: assist citizen, King Street, a caller reports her 16 month old baby is locked in her car, dual response dispatched, the responding officer reports firefighters gained entry to the vehicle without damage;
2:49 a.m.: suspicious property, Sycamore Street, a patrol officer reports she observed a chain saw on the ground next to a vehicle with an open door and valuable items on the front seat, the vehicle was secured and the chain saw was transported to the station of safe keeping;
8:31 a.m.: animal complaint, Franklin Street at Washington Street, a patrol officer reports he observed a black pit bull dog running loose near the intersection, the responding animal control officer reports the dog was transported to the Westfield Animal Shelter;
8:50 a.m.: breaking and entering, Hillcrest Circle, a caller reports family vehicles were entered overnight and property was stolen, the responding officer reports the caller said that four unlocked vehicles which had been parked in the driveway were entered between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m. and two GPS devices were stolen;
10:00 a.m.: breaking and entering, Hillcrest Circle, a caller reports her vehicle was broken into overnight, the responding officer reports the caller said that between 9 p.m. and 10 a.m. her vehicle parked in the driveway was entered, a GPS device and a locked box containing a 9 mm handgun were stolen;
10:06 a.m.: breaking and entering, Loomis Street, a caller reports her home was entered, the responding officer reports the caller said that while she was upstairs she heard her dog bark and a door slam, the woman said when she investigated she found a bottle of medication had been stolen from her kitchen counter;
10:12 a.m.: vandalism, Meadow Street, a caller report all four tires on her vehicle were slashed, the responding officer reports the caller said that she parked her car about 9 p.m. and about 9 a.m. she found all four of the tires were flat;
1:08 p.m.: violation of a protective order, Mather Street, a resident came to the station with another party and said that she had tried to report a violation of a protective order on Monday and was told to come back with a witness, the responding officer reports the witness said that he saw a known person who is the defendant of a protective order leaving the plaintiff’s property, the officer noted that the order requires the man to stay at least 100 yards away from the plaintiff’s property, a criminal complaint was filed;
4:08 p.m.: larceny, Mechanic Street, a caller reports two small lawn ornaments have been stolen in the past few days, the caller does not require a formal report but asks for additional patrols during the overnight hours;
6:56 p.m.: animal complaint, Highland Avenue, a caller reports taking custody of a stray dog, a responding animal control officer reports the dog was transported to the Westfield Animal Shelter;
7:40 p.m.: suspicious person, Court Street, a caller reports a shirtless man is sleeping on a neighbor’s porch, the responding officer reports the resident said that she had no idea who the man was but said she did not wish to pursue criminal charges, the woman did however want he man removed, the officer reports the man said that he had been on the porch since he was discharged from the hospital, long enough to drink two pints of vodka, the man then showed the officer a bottle containing a small amount of vodka and finished the bottle in front of him, the Turners Falls resident was deemed to be too intoxicated to care for himself and was placed in protective custody.
