Keene State nips WSU

WSUfhockeyKEENE, N.H. – A pair of goals less than three minutes apart gave the Keene State College field hockey team a 2-0 win over Westfield State University on Saturday at Owl Athletic Complex.
The Owls have won three in a row and improve to 7-4, and 4-0 in the Little East Conference. Westfield State dips to 5-4, with a 3-2 LEC mark.
Marita Brothers grabbed the only goal that the Owls would need with an unassisted marker in the 17th minute following a succession of penalty corners.

The Owls were never really threatened throughout the game, outshooting Westfield State 19-5. Meaghan Dwyer played the first half and made two saves to pick up the win. Gwendolyn Thayer played the second half and made one stop.
KSC will head out of conference to play at Johnson & Wales on Monday night at 6:30 p.m. Westfield State hosts Western Connecticut State on October 7 at 7 p.m.
