KEENE, N.H. – The Keene State College women’s volleyball team swept Westfield State University 3-0 in its home-opening match at Spaulding Gym on Wednesday night, Sept. 4.
Keene State (2-1) won the first two sets by the identical scores of 25-19 before taking the third set 25-18.
Sophomore Angela Silveri (Poughquag, N.Y.) led KSC with 10 kills and eight digs. Sophomore Kaitlin Boyer (West Greenwich, R.I.) had eight kills while freshman setter Brooke Hatanaka (Acton, Mass.) finished with 19 assists.
“We have so much offense, but didn’t show a lot on defense,” said KSC Coach Bob Weiner. “Offensively, we have endless possibilities. They love to hit. They love to score, but they didn’t worry about the other parts of the game. That’s a concern.”
Seniors Lindsay Rescott (Northport, N.Y.) and Julia Warner (Lee, Mass.) had seven kills each to lead Westfield State (3-1). Warner also had eight digs and 16 assists.
Keene State travels to Conn. College on Saturday for a tri-match with Wheaton College (3 p.m.). Westfield State will be at the Springfield College Tournament on Friday with matches against Eastern Conn. (5 p.m.) and Rivier College (7 p.m.).
