SOUTHWICK – Louie B’s Nightclub and Restaurant was seized by the Department of Revenue (DOR) Thursday.
DOR Communications Director Ann Dufresne said the property was seized at 10:30 a.m., with assistance from state police, for nonpayment of taxes.
“The amount owed is $55,694.51,” said Dufresne. “The oldest assessment goes back to July of 2008.”
Southwick Police Chief Mark Krynicki confirmed earlier in the day Friday that the property had been seized.
Dufresne said owner Jennifer Nolasco could regain control of the property.
“It could potentially go to auction, but if she enters into a payment agreement with the state she could re-open,” said Dufresne. “I have seen businesses reopened within days of a seizure. We work with our taxpayers all the time.”
