Ludlow erases WHS volleyball, 3-0

LUDLOW – The Westfield High School boys’ volleyball team hit a road bump on its road to its first championship appearance.
The mighty Ludlow Lions (second seed) held serve at home in the Western Massachusetts Division I boys’ volleyball tournament semis, defeating No. 3 Westfield, 25-18, 25-23, 25-21 Thursday.
Jared Piubeni and John Bucko had 10 kills apiece to pace Westfield. Bombers’ Ivan Zuez had 21 digs.
“It was obviously disappointing to lose at this point for the second straight year,” said Westfield coach Tyler Wingate, whose Bombers finished the season with a combined record of 15-4. “We ran into a better team today who outplayed us and made more plays defensively. I am proud of the effort of the guys this year and happy with the outlook of the program going forward.”
Ludlow improved to 17-3 (regular season and postseason combined).
