Man injured In crash

WESTFIELD – A Montgomery man was reported to remain in “fair” condition this morning at Baystate Medical Center after a single vehicle crash Monday afternoon on Montgomery Road.
Officers Jose Torres and Michael Bradley that a caller at 2:05 p.m. reported a rollover crash in the area of 559 Montgomery Road and arrived within minutes of each other to find the operator trapped inside the vehicle which had rolled over.
The responding firefighters report the windshield was removed from the 2008 Honda CRV in order to extricate the operator, Richard W. Patterson, 71, of 679 Montgomery Road, who was transported to Baystate Medical Center.
Torres reports that Patterson said that a vehicle pulled out into his path and he swerved to avoid it.
Torres reports that he found no other involved vehicle in the area and observed no skid marks on the roadway.
Torres found that Patterson’s car had crossed the roadway and struck a tree before caroming off and returning to the right side of the roadway where it rolled over and came to rest on the driver’s side.
Patterson was treated at the hospital and was reported to be in “fair” condition on both Tuesday and Wednesday mornings.
