Monument Mountain climbs past Westfield

WESTFIELD – Graham Herrick scored a game-high 22 points and Noah Helmke chipped in 15 as Monument Mountain escaped Westfield with a 58-53 victory in high school boys basketball action Saturday.
Javi Santos recorded a double-double for Westfield with 16 points and 19 rebounds. Bombers’ Kam Wells finished with 15 points.
Westfield will look to rebound against East Longmeadow Monday at home. Tip-off is at 7 p.m.

Wahconah wins late
Wahconah 38, Southwick 34

Wahconah went on a 15-3, fourth quarter run to squeak out a victory on the road Saturday.
Tom Burris and Tom O’Connor led Wahconah with 15 and 11 points, respectively.
Southwick’s Billy Strain scored a team-high 12.

BOYS ICE HOCKEY
Westfield 2, Groton-Dunstable 0

Connor Cottengim set up Scotty Bussell and Max Maggipinto for one goal apiece, and Cam Parent (23 saves) earned a shutout for Westfield.

GIRLS ICE HOCKEY
Longmeadow (WHS Co-Op) 10, Leominster 0

Brigitte Goeler-Slough recorded a hat trick, Jordan Kowalski (2 goals, 1 assist) and Katherine Guidrey (3 assists) had three points apiece, Katelyn Joyal scored twice, and Kyra Ashe had one goal and one assist for Longmeadow (WHS Co-Op).
Longmeadow goalie Kayla Brown collected 12 saves in the shutout.
It was a nice bounce-back victory for Longmeadow, which fell to Needham 4-2 Friday night.
