8:05 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Orange Street, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop, the vehicle’s registration was found to be expired, the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;
11:00 a.m.: animal complaint, Westfield Animal Shelter, 178 Apremont Way, a person came to the shelter to surrender a Weimaraner dog he can no longer care for;
3:00 p.m.: city ordinance violation, Western Avenue at Spruce Street, a patrol officer reports he observed a vehicle parked on a tree belt and offered for sale without a city permit, the officer reports the plates on the vehicle have been cancelled, the plates were seized, a tow tuck was summoned and the officer was able to contact the seller who was informed of the tow;
3:51 p.m.: larceny, Springfield Road, an employee of a Springfield Road department store reports a male party was seen to remove a knife from its packaging and conceal it on his person, the officer reports that the suspect was confronted and detained without incident, Alexander F. Caputo, 22, of 557 Dickinson Hill Road, Russell, was arrested for shoplifting by asportation;
7:03 p.m.: narcotics violation, Franklin Street, detectives report that pursuant to an ongoing investigation they executed a warrant at a Franklin Street address and seized a quantity of marijuana, scales, packaging materials and cash, Cameron A. Miles, 20, and Brandie Arlene Lucia, 19, both of 99 Franklin St., were each arrested for possession of a Class D drug with intent to distribute.
7:25 p.m.: animal complaint, Birch Terrace, a caller requests assistance removing a bat from her home, the responding officer reports the bat was evicted;
8:59 p.m.: assault, Morris Street, a resident came to the station to complain he was assaulted, the responding officer reports the complainant said that he confronted a known party who he alleged had stolen $10 from him and the man punched him when he was not looking;
9:48 p.m.: larceny, Root Road, an officer reports that a child’s gold chain was stolen at a dance studio, the theft remains under investigation.
