WESTFIELD – The Longmeadow-Westfield girls’ ice hockey team may have found its groove.
Longmeadow won its second game in three days, and fourth in sixth tries by defeating Belmont 4-1 Sunday to improve to 4-1-1.
Taylor Markstein had a hand in three of the four Longmeadow scores, tallying two goals and assisting on another. Katelyn Joyal and Jordan Kowalski each had one goal and one assist for the Lancers, and MacKenzie Pelletier had an assist.

Longmeadow entered Sunday’s contest having thumped Auburn 8-1 Friday. The Lancer produced eight different goal scorers (Jordan Kowalski, Joyal, Lauren Munster, Madison Pelletier, Kyra Ashe, Brittany Kowalski, Karolyn Jones, Ashley Barron).

Bombers shut out Spartans
Westfield 72, East Longmeadow 0

Freshman Kaleb Cree (120 pounds), junior Isaac Santos (126), sophomore Ed Towers (132), and Joe Raco (182) all posted first-period wins to lead Westfield to a shutout Saturday.
Westfield’s Cerrito Serrano and Yeremy Kovylyak also each won with third period pins. For Kovylyak, it was his first varsity win in his first effort. Junior Dennis Sevastyanov (152) won a closely contested match, 7-2, and Bombers’ Mike Malinowski, Jack Yvon, Johnny Gourde, Luis Rogers, and Johann Shieppe each picked up “W”s.
