MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Westfield State University men’s track and field team opened its 2014 outdoor season by competing in the Wesleyan University Invitational on Saturday, March 22. It was a non-scoring meet.
Finishing first for Westfield were Matt Moussamih in the 1500 (4:22.22), Dayvon Williams in the triple jump (41-4 ½), Jeremy Forgue (400 hurdles, 1:00.09), Travon Godette in the high jump (6-4), Zack Delisle in the pole vault (13-1 ½), and the 4 x 400 relay team (3:28.24) of Mike Stender, Moussamih, Kyle Sullivan and Tevin Cintron.
Williams also placed third in the 110 hurdles. The Owls’ other top performers were: John Tomlin (2nd, 400), Cintron (2nd, 1500), Steve Connolly (3rd, 1500), Tim Gallagher (2nd, 400 hurdles), Tim Shea (2nd, 5000), Chris Williams (3rd, 5000), Jacob Clements (3rd, high jump), Marcus Pettigrew (3rd, shot put), Bobby Boire (3rd, long jump), Wali Alston (2nd, triple jump), and Jack Sheerin (2nd, javelin).
WOMEN’S RESULTS
Finishing first for Westfield were Olivia Marshall in the 3,000 meter run (11:37.98), Meg McNamara in the 100 hurdles (15.44), Kat Palso in the long jump (16-4 ¼) and the 4 x 100 relay squad (51.24) of Amy Campbell, McNamara, Megan Faunce and Palso.
McNamara also placed second in the 400 hurdles and Palso placed third in the 100 meter dash.
Westfield’s other top performers were: Amy Campbell (2nd, 100; 3rd, 200), Jacky Farrell (2nd, triple jump; 3rd, long jump), Marie Gulino (2nd, 400), Alex Livingston (2nd, hammer throw), Andrea Hicks (3rd, 5000), Michaela McCarthy (3rd, triple jump), Ryan MacRae (3rd, shot put), and Marisa Parmeggiani (3rd, javelin).
