WESTFIELD – The Westfield High School swim program is nothing short of perfect.
Westfield completed an unbeaten regular season – the boys’ team pulled off a pulse-pounding win over Minnechaug 94-92 and the girls’ squad enjoyed a 130-56 rout of the Falcons on Tuesday – to capture both Minutemen League championships in grand style.
Matt LaBombard, Timothy Kwarcinski, and John Dolan won two events apiece to lead the Westfield boys. LaBombard enjoyed victories in the 200 freestyle (1:52.63) and 100 butterfly (57.35); Kwarcinksi in the 200 individual medley (2:04.57) and 500 free (5:11.07); and, Dolan in the 100 free (51.83) and 100 backstroke (57.91).
Jimmy Stinehart finished first in the 50 free (22.51), while also helping the 200-yard medley (Matt Jacobson, Kwarcinski, Chris Tu) and 200-yard free relay (Patrick Monette, LaBombard, Dolan) teams to first-place finishes (1:46.48 and 1:36.82, respectively).
LaBombard, Kwarcinski, Tu, and Dolan took first in the 400 free relay in 3:30.79.
GIRLS’ RESULTS
Jordan Jacobson (50 free, 25.84; 500 free, 5:31.27) and Erin Lewis (200 IM, 2:16.66; 100 breast, 1:10.66) each won two events apiece to pace Westfield.
Lauren Longley (200 free, 2:03.91), Genna Senecal (100 fly, 1:02.79), Kate McCabe (1:05.21), the 200 medley relay (McCabe/Senecal/Lewis/Jacobson, 1:55.27), 200 free relay (Longley/Hope Walsh/Lewis/Jacobson, 1:44.34), and 400 free relay (Longley/Hannah Plourde/Senecal/Walsh, 3:51.26) all won for the Bombers.
