Pittsfield wins latest chapter

WESTFIELD – The Westfield and Pittsfield high school baseball teams renewed their rivalry Thursday night. Unfortunately, for the Bombers things did not go as planned.
Pittsfield came into Bullens Field Thursday and exited with a 10-3 victory.
“It was a long afternoon,” said Westfield coach Rich Discenza, whose team fell behind from the outset.
Chris Sullivan, Sean Moorhouse, and Anthony Clark finished with two hits apiece for the Bombers.

SOFTBALL
Rams pounce again
Southwick 16, Pathfinder 0

Emily Lachtara tossed a one-hitter, and the Southwick offense exploded again to lift Southwick.
Sydney Rogers went 3-for-4 with a double and 2 runs, Olivia Diamond went 2-for-3, 2 runs, and 3 RBIs, and Brittany Penland notched her first varsity hit, and had two RBIs.
In other games, the Southwick JV squad blanked Pathfinder 18-0.

Gators go on offensive tear
Renaissance 28, Gateway 21

Erika Wolfe went 3-for-5 with three runs scored and 2 RBIs, Jordan Cooper went 2-for-5 with four runs and two RBIs, and Gabby Dame knocked in four base runners.

BOYS’ TENNIS
Bombers sizzle
Westfield 5, Sci-Tech 0

Tristin Viale and Lyle Libanan won at first and second singles, respectively, 6-1, 7-5 and 6-2, 6-4, and, Alec Best won by forfeit (6-0, 6-0) at third singles for Westfield. Bombers’ Matt Roberts and Tim Hurley won at first doubles, 6-2, 6-2, and Jake Knapik and Shayne Holloway won at second doubles, 6-1, 6-0.
Westfield improved to a stellar 7-1.

GIRLS’ LACROSSE
Sarnacki, Granby top Saints
Granby 21, St. Mary 5

Kate Sarnacki scored seven goals and had one assist, and Jessica Petruno scored four goals to fuel Granby’s offensive attack.
Jillian Watson (3 goals, 2 assist), Lauren Chapdelaine (1 goal), and Aisling Butler (1 goal).
