2:07 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Elm Street, a patrol officer reports that while patrolling southbound on Elm Street he observed a northbound vehicle operating without lights and saw it fail to stop for a red traffic light, the vehicle was stopped and the officer reports he immediately noted an odor of alcohol and other indications of intoxication, the operator admitted consuming four alcoholic drinks and subsequently failed a field sobriety test, Thomas J. Gallo, 63, of 37 Cabot Road, was arrested for operating under the influence of liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, failure to stop or yield and a motor vehicle lights violation;
3:35 a.m.: assist other department, Westfield Police Department, 15 Washington St., Southwick police request the use of a breathalyzer, Southwick police brought a suspect to the station for testing;
4:36 a.m.: arrest, Park Square Townhouse, 140 Union St., City police were asked to execute a probation warrant for a probationer who has failed to maintain the charge of a locating device she is required to wear, the responding officers report the subject was found at her home, Kimberly L. McCullough, 36, of 140 Union St., was arrested on the warrant without incident;
8:40 a.m.: illegal dumping, South Maple Street, a caller reports a neighbor illegally dumped brush and other material on his property, the responding officer reports the property in question is owned by the city, the suspect was advised by telephone that his actions were illegal and advised to remove the material by Monday to avoid criminal charges, the suspect said he would comply immediately;
10:18 a.m.: larceny, Kelly Drive, a caller reports that her computer was stolen, the responding officer reports that the caller said that she was away and returned home to find her laptop computer missing, the woman said that she suspects a relative known to have a heroin addiction may be responsible, the resident called again later to report that her husband had spoken with the relative who blamed his unidentified girlfriend for the theft but said he knew where the computer was, the suspect went with the victim’s husband to a Holyoke business where he said the person who bought he computer wanted $350 for it, the man gave the suspect the funds but the computer was not recovered, the case was referred to the detective bureau
8:18 p.m.: vandalism, East Main Street, a caller reports four girls are spray paining the entrance to a building, the responding officer reports he identified four pre-teen girls who had been spraying each other with ‘silly string’ while waiting to be picked up by a mother;
9:21 p.m.: suspicious person, Granville Road, a caller reports a person parked a vehicle in his driveway and walked up the road toward Granville, the responding officer reports that while investigating the vehicle which was filled with redeemable cans and other scrap the owner returned and said that his “check engine” light had illuminated so he parked his mini-van in the driveway and had walked toward a house showing lights, the officer reports that the only residence visible with lights showing was at the end of the driveway the man had parked in, no apparent mechanical malfunction was found and the man left the area.
