2:00 a.m.: disturbance, Holland Avenue, multiple callers reports an intoxicated male party started arguing with a resident and vandalized a vehicle, the responding officer reports he arrived to find five persons watching as one man held another to the ground, the officer reports the man on top said that he had been on his porch with friends when he heard approaching pedestrians yelling, the man said that the pedestrian stopped and began kicking his pickup truck before attempting to flee when the resident approached him, the man said that he held the suspect down and was obliged to punch him repeatedly to keep him there until police arrived, Michael Anthony Raneri, 22, of 10 Avery St., was arrested for defacing property, the second pedestrian acknowledged that he was intoxicated and was placed in protective custody;
3:16 a.m.: disturbance, Pochassic Street, a caller reports her son stabbed her with a fork during an argument, the responding officer reports that woman said that she had argued with her adult son with whom she lives and feared he would assault her with a fork but no assault actually occurred, the man had left the residence, the woman was advised of her protective order options;
4:27 a.m.: disturbance, Conner Avenue, a caller reports a woman refuses to leave his home, the responding officer reports he encountered the woman leaving and she declined to speak with him, a short time later the caller said that the woman had returned and had thrown a beer bottle through his window before fleeing with a piece of the broken glass, the man said that he feared the woman would harm herself and officers searched for an hour before the woman returned to the residence, the woman was found to have apparently self-inflicted cuts and was transported to Noble Hospital;
11:48 a.m.: larceny, Springfield Road, a caller from a Springfield Road department store reports he is following a male party who has apparently shoplifted merchandise and will confront him if he attempts to leave the store without making payment, the responding officer reports that the employee was unable to detain the suspect who left in a described motor vehicle, Holyoke police were notified and report the vehicle was stopped and the stolen property was found, Brendan P. Connelly, 25, of 403 Russell St., Sunderland, was arrested for shoplifting and for trespass;
1:10 p.m.: suspicious activity, Kellogg Street, a caller reports he believes someone attempted to break into his residence overnight as he has found blood on the doorknob and near the gate, the responding officer reports a blood trail suggests that a person cut himself scaling the fence and proceeded to the unlocked outer door, no entry to the living quarters was gained;
1:21 p.m.: incapacitated person, East Silver Street, a caller reports an intoxicated male party is sleeping in front of the store she works at, the responding officer reports the known party was obviously intoxicated and was placed in protective custody;
1:56 p.m.: fire, Egleston Road, a caller reports he is evacuating a house because of a fire, the responding firefighters reports a plastic bottle on a stove caught fire and filled the house with smoke, the firefighters ventilated the smoke;
2:20 p.m.: burning complaint, Birch Bluffs Drive, a caller reports someone is burning in the neighborhood, the responding firefighters report the resident was advised of the violation and the complaint;
2:34 p.m.: breaking and entering, East Main Street, a caller reports her locked locker was entered at her workplace and property was stolen, the responding officer reports the caller said that a while she was working a smartphone and $20 in cash was stolen from her locker, the officer reports security video will be reviewed;
4:07 p.m.: larceny, Russellville Road, a caller reports his lawn mower was stolen in the past few hours, the responding officer reports the caller said that a lawn mower which he has habitually borrowed from a recently deceased neighbor has been removed from his yard, the officer reports that the incident is part of ongoing disputes about he property of the deceased;
4:15 p.m.: assist citizen, Main Street, an engine was dispatched to assist with a residential lockout, the responding firefighters report entry was gained;
4:17 p.m.: incapacitated person, Main Street, a caller reports a male party laying in a flower bed, the responding officer reports that the man was clearly intoxicated and was placed in protective custody;
4:44 p.m.: accident, Main Street, a multiple callers report a vehicle struck a building, the responding officer reports an eastbound operator lost control of his vehicle, crossed plantings on the corner of Cherry Street and struck a vehicle before continuing to strike a building before coming to rest, a caller reports the operator may have had a seizure, the man was transported to Baystate Medical Center where he was admitted and subsequently discharged;
7:18 p.m.: disturbance, Meadow Street, a caller reports an intoxicated man is creating a disturbance with his neighbors, the responding officer reports residents of the area pointed out the suspect’s location and as he approached the man emerged and advanced toward the officer while disregarding instruction to stop, the officer reports the deployed his Taser but the man punched his jaw before he could employ it, the officer took control of the man, the officer was told that the man approached a neighbor angrily complaining about a barking dog and when another neighbor attempted to intercede the suspect picked up a machete and chased the man attempting to be a peacemaker, Mark E. Ethier, 48, of 93 Meadow St., was arrested for assault and battery on a police officer, two counts of assault and battery and disorderly conduct;
10:47 p.m.: larceny, Springfield Road, a caller from a Springfield Road department store reports detaining a 60-year-old shoplifter, the responding officer reports the employee said that personal care and household merchandise was recovered, a criminal complaint was filed;
10:52 p.m.: suspicious activity, East Mountain Road, a caller reports large party with underage drinking, the responding officer reports that he found that the party was hosted by a youth whose father is away, the officer reports he spoke with the youth’s mother who agreed to take custody of the boy and a dog until the resident returns from vacation, the guests arranged for rides to their homes;
11:41 p.m.: assault, West Silver Street, a caller from Noble Hospital reports an assault, the responding officer reports the victim said that she had been en route to a party in Holyoke when a disagreement arose between herself and another young woman who twisted a finger, the woman said that she thinks her finger is broken, a criminal complaint was filed.

8:43 a.m.: disturbance, Kellogg Street, a caller reports her friend called and asked her to call police, the responding officer reports the female resident said that during an argument her husband grabbed her face with sufficient force to make her believes she was being strangled, the officer noted that the woman’s nose was bleeding, Efrain Flores Jr., 37, of 25 Kellogg St., was arrested for assault and battery in a domestic relationship;
9:11 a.m.: unauthorized use of a vehicle, Powdermill Village, 126 Union St., a caller reports her keys and vehicle are missing, the responding officer reports the woman said that she believes a friend of a family member took the car without authority, the vehicle was returned to the caller;
10:41 a.m.: larceny, Springfield Road, a caller reports the tires were stolen from a vehicle on the sales lot, the responding officer reports the caller said that a pickup truck was found on blocks in the morning when employees arrived at the dealership;
11:21 a.m.: larceny, Pearl Street, a caller reports his wheelchair valued at $6,000 was stolen, the responding officer report she caller said that the powered wheelchair had broken down and he was unable to bring it inside, the man said that the wheelchair was stolen from his yard;
2:02 p.m.: found property, Sibley Avenue, a caller reports finding a child’s bicycle in bushes near her home, the responding officer reports the bike was transported to the station for safekeeping;
6:27 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Court Street, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop, the vehicle’s registration was expired but the owner renewed her registration online before the vehicle proceeded;
10:12 p.m.: noise complaint, Hubbard Street, a caller reports children in the spray park are being loud and disturbing her peace, the responding officer reports that several families with young children were using the park and left without incident when advised that the park is closed at night;
10:47 p.m.: suspicious activity, Westfield High School, 177 Montgomery Road, a patrol officer reports he encountered persons with two vehicles in the parking lot who said that they met to talk, the officer advised them that nobody is allowed on school grounds after dark and they left the area;
11:08 p.m.: animal complaint, King Avenue, a caller reports two dogs are barking on a neighbor’s porch, the responding officer reports that he had responded to the same address the night before and found the same two dogs again had no food or water, the officer reports that it appears as if nobody has visited the dogs since he was last there and noted that the dogs have been obliged to soil the area they are confined to, the officer found food and water which he set out for the dogs, the animal control officer was notified.
