12:25 a.m.: city ordinance violation, Atwater Street at Parker Avenue, a DPW worker reports he is unable to plow because of numerous vehicles parked in violation of the snow emergency parking ban which went into effect at midnight, the responding officer reports one vehicle was towed and city ordinance violation citations were issued on Parker Avenue, Demond Avenue and Atwater Street, similar violations were reported and acted upon on Taylor Avenue (6), Hampden Street, Fremont Street, East Bartlett Street, Grand Street, West School Street (2), Cranston Street (2), and Myrtle Ave (2);
2:00 a.m.: city ordinance violation, Elm Street at Thomas Street, a patrol officer reports he observed a man urinate on a snowbank at the intersection, a city ordinance violation citation was issued;
3:23 a.m.: city ordinance violation, Fremont Street, a resident came to the station to complain that a vehicle parked in violation of the snow emergency parking ban is impeding his efforts to plow his driveway, the responding officer reports the vehicle parked near the corner of High Street and Fremont Street is obstructing city plows attempting to enter Fremont Street to plow, the car was towed to the police impound yard, a vehicle was towed for a similar reason on Elm Street;
10:02 a.m.: assist other agency, Lincoln Street, an officer was detailed to attempt to execute an arrest warrant faxed to the department by Hampshire District Court, the officer reports Anthony M. Demattia, 27, of 6 Lincoln Street, was found at his home and arrested without incident;
1:45 p.m.: found property, Union Avenue, a patrol officer reports he observed an unlocked parked vehicle idling for more than two hours, the officer reports he was unable to locate the owner in the area, the officer removed the key from the ignition, secured the car and transported the key to the station for safekeeping, Chicopee police were asked to check the owner’s home in search of a responsible party but report there was no answer at the door, the owner came to the station at 7:15 p.m. and picked up the key to his car;
4:24 p.m.: fire, Little River Road, a caller reports smoke is coming from her basement and she can see a glow, the dispatcher reports a smoke alarm was sounding, dual response dispatched, the responding deputy fire chief reports a couch was burning and was extinguished, the fire appeared to have been caused by careless disposal of smoking materials;
5:30 p.m.: assist other city agency, Arnold Street municipal parking lot, the parking clerk requests assistance with vehicles parked in violation of the snow emergency parking ban, the responding officer reports several owners moved vehicles but one was cited and towed to the police impound yard, at the Thomas Street lot an officer reports that six vehicles were cited and two were towed to the police impound yard;
7:59 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, North Elm Street, a patrol officer reports that a routine check of a vehicle seen operating at a speed faster than reasonable for road conditions revealed that the vehicle’s registration had been revoked for lack of insurance, the SUV was stopped and subsequently towed to the police impound yard, the operator was provided a courtesy transport to a Free Street address;
8:28 p.m.: animal complaint, Southampton Road, a caller from a North Road bar reports an injured possum is on the property, the responding officer reports the animal appears to have been attacked, the officer reports he placed the possum was in a field and dispatched it.
