9:49 a.m.: notification, Westfield Police Department, 15 Washington St., a dispatcher was detailed to notify a Department of Public Works foreman that roads are icing city-wide due to freezing rain;
10:11 a.m.: assist other police department, Springfield Road, West Springfield police report that Route 20 is being shut down in both directions due to a rollover accident in their city and icing concerns, an officer responded to assist motorists;
10:32 a.m.: disabled vehicle, Feeding Hills Road, an officer assisting a motorist who went off the road because he could not manage the icy conditions reports that Feeding Hills Road was closed temporarily;
1:59 p.m.: identity fraud, Western Avenue, a resident came to the station to report some of his checks were stolen and fraudulently cashed, the responding officer reports that he has found several books of his of blank checks are missing and his bank informed him of three checks totaling about $600 which had been written and cashed without authority, the man said that the checks were made payable to a man married to a friend of his, the case was referred to the financial crimes unit of the Detective Bureau;
6:54 p.m.: found property, Main Street, the manager of a Main Street supermarket reports an employee found a small bag of white powder in the store, the responding officer took custody of the bag and reports that the contents tested positive for cocaine, the property was referred to the Detective Bureau;
9:02 p.m.: assist resident, Noble Hospital, Court Street, a caller from the hospital’s emergency department requests a courtesy transport for a discharged patient, the responding officer reports the man was provided transport to a Francis Street address;
9:07 p.m.: assist motorists, Paper Mill Road, a caller reports she is unable to ascend the Paper Mill Road hill due to icy conditions, the responding officer reports he assisted vehicles descend the hill safely;
10:26 p.m.: assist resident, Noble Hospital, Court Street, a caller from the hospital’s emergency department requests a courtesy transport for a discharged patient as the local taxi company is not operating, the responding officer reports a man was provided transport to a Free Street address;
11:07 p.m.: weather complaint, Springdale Road, a caller reports a vehicle is stuck in the middle of the Springdale Road hill, the responding officer reports the hill section of Springdale Road was closed for about 20 minutes until the DPW was able to treat it.
