1:08 a.m.: city ordinance violation, Arnold Street, an auxiliary patrol officer reports he observed a male party exit a bar, cross the street and urinate in the doorway of a closed business, the officer reports the man claimed his use of the doorway was a common practice, a city ordinance violation citation was issued;
4:19 a.m.: fire, Feeding Hills Road, a caller reports a possible chimney fire, dual response dispatched, the responding officer reports firefighters took steps to deal with the chimney fire;
6:58 a.m.: animal complaint, Southampton Road, a caller reports he has taken custody of a stray black female pit bull dog, a responding animal control officer reports he transported the dog to the municipal animal shelter;
8:24 a.m.: vandalism, Montgomery Street, a caller reports the rear window of her vehicle was shot out, the responding officer reports the victim said that the rear window of her mini van was shattered overnight, the officer reports the window was broken by an apparent pellet or BB impact;
10:02 a.m.: animal complaint, Westfield Animal Shelter, 178 Apremont Way, the director of animal control operations reports a person surrendered a tri-colored male beagle dog;
10:41 a.m.: breaking and entering, Joseph Avenue, a caller reports he is keeping an eye on a neighbor’s house while the family is away and has discovered that jewelry was stolen after access was gained by forcing open a basement window;
12:12 p.m.: vandalism, Western Avenue, a resident came to the station to report damage to her car, the responding officer reports the complainant said that she discovered about two weeks ago a pry mark on the rear hatch of her car, the responding officer reports that the pry mark does not appear to have been caused by an attempt to enter the vehicle;
4:09 p.m.: assist citizen, Tannery Road, a caller reports a neighbor is locked out of her house, firefighters were dispatched to assist the resident;
6:24 p.m.: accident, Ward Road, a caller reports a person is trapped inside a vehicle which crashed against a tree, dual response dispatched, the responding officer reports the operator was extricated from the car by firefighters but was semi conscious and not able to explain what happened, the officer found that the vehicle left the roadway and traveled across two lawns striking two mailboxes before striking a tree and coming to rest, the operator was transported to Baystate Medical Center where he was treated and released;
8:39 p.m.: assist citizen, North Elm Street, a caller reports her infant is locked inside her vehicle at a gas station, the responding firefighters report entry was made;
10:26 p.m.: breaking and entering, Foch Avenue, a resident came to the station to report her home was broken into less than an hour earlier, the responding officer reports the caller said that she had returned a short time earlier after being away from her house for less than hour and returned to find a window had been broken and her house had been entered, the woman said that rooms were ransacked but no property was believed to have been taken.
11:02 p.m.: breaking and entering, a caller reports a male party was seen inside her vehicle and her husband now has the man held against the house, the responding officer reports he encountered a male party holding another against a house and the man released his captive when instructed to do so, the officer reports the suspect appeared to be highly intoxicated, the contents of the vehicle had been disturbed but nothing was found to have been stolen, Bryan Joseph Reno, 23, of 9B Union St., was arrested for breaking and entering a vehicle in the nighttime with intent to commit a felony;

12:37 a.m.: Assault, Elm Street, a caller reports a male party was assaulted, the responding officer reports he encountered a male party bleeding from his face who said that he was punched by another male for no apparent reason, the officer reports the victim was highly intoxicated and did not gave the same account of the incident twice, a witness supported the victim’s account of the basic facts, the officer reports he was able to speak with owner of the vehicle the suspect left in and the suspect subsequently came to the station, the man said that he had been at the bar with his brother when his brother told him that a man had pushed his fiancée out of her chair, the man said that to forestall any untoward actions by his brother he spoke with the man and a scuffle ensued in which he punched the man once, the suspect said that if he had known that police were notified he would not have left, a criminal complaint was filed;
2:09 a.m.: Elm Street, a caller reports that she was advised that someone had broken into her boyfriend’s business, the responding officer reports that he found a glass door had been broken, apparently to gain access to an inactive business, the officer reports that there was little of value in the business but the caller said that some vinyl records valued at about $5 were stolen;
2:14 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Orange Street, a patrol officer reports he observed a vehicle operating without headlights and which crossed the center line while making a wide turn, the officer stopped the vehicle and the operator was found to be unlicensed, the owner was a passenger in the vehicle and said that she knew the man to be unlicensed, the woman’s license was found to be suspended, Cornelio V. Rivera Jr., 18, of 49 Ventura St., Springfield, was arrested for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, for a marked lanes violation and for a motor vehicle lights violation, a criminal complaint was issued to the owner for allowing unlicensed use of a motor vehicle, the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;
3:16 a.m.: unwanted guest, New Broadway, a caller reports an unwanted guest is banging on his door and will not leave, the responding officer reports the caller said that he had called a male party he had allowed to stay in his home for a few days and told him to gather his belongings and move on, the caller said that the man came to his home and kicked in a door to take possession of his property there, the caller did not have sufficient identifying information to file a complaint and was advised to call police when he can fully identify the man so charges can be filed;
3:25 a.m.: disturbance, Tekoa Mountain Apartments, 700 Russell Road, a caller reports a physical altercation with a known party, the responding officer reports that each party agreed that an argument developed over medication the woman was missing and both said the other was the aggressor, both parties were advised they could seek a criminal complaint at the Westfield District Court;
4:07 a.m.: officer wanted, General Shepard Apartments, 25 Thomas St., a caller reports a possible online fraud, the responding officer reports the woman said that she had been surfing the net when her computer froze and a message appeared apparently claiming that the FBI had taken control of the computer because of child pornography found on it, the message provided a dollar amount to be sent to an address specified to release her computer, the responding officer advised the woman not to send anybody any money and reports the computer was infected with a malicious virus, probably while the woman was surfing the net;
2:43 p.m.: larceny, Powder Mill Village, 126 Union St., a caller reports a larceny from her residence, the responding officer reports the woman showed him a safe which had been opened and said that almost $1,300 had been removed from two envelopes which had been inside the lock box, the woman said that she suspects maintenance workers who had been in the room earlier were responsible;
7:58 p.m.: incapacitated person, Jefferson Street, a caller reports he observed a known person on a resident’s steps, the officer reports that when he spoke with the man he became highly agitated and yelled obscenities and threats at the officer drawing the attention of residents, the man refused to calm, Ronald D. Fuller, 51, of no fixed address in Westfield, was arrested for disorderly conduct;
9:26 p.m.: disturbance, Southwood Acres, 342 Southwick Road, a caller reports her adult son is intoxicated and no longer welcome, the responding officer reports the man was obviously highly intoxicated and was unable to identify anybody who would care for him, the man was placed in protective custody;
11:39 p.m.: liquor law violation, Mechanic Street, a community policing supervisor reports a liquor law violation, a city ordinance violation citation was issued.
