8:01 a.m.: breaking and entering, Summer Street, a resident came to the station to report that her vehicle was broken into, the responding officer reports the victim said that she does not know if the vehicle had been locked and said that a cellular phone had been left in the car, the phone was taken as evidence;
9:19 a.m.: identity fraud, Charles Street, a resident came to the station to report his personal information has been fraudulently used, the responding officer reports an incident report was filed;
9:27 a.m.: accident, Mill Street, multiple callers report a vehicle went off the roadway and struck a fence or a sign, the responding officer reports one person was transported Baystate Noble Hospital and the car was towed to the police impound yard;
10:43 a.m.: fraud, Highland View Street, a resident came to the station to report she was the victim of a scam, the responding officer reports the victim was convinced to transmit money via gift cards to a person who claimed that she needed to make the payments to facilitate delivery of a prize she had won;
11:22 a.m.: larceny East Main Street, a representative of an East Main Street home improvement store reports that a woman who has been reported to have stolen from others of the chain’s stores recently stole from the Westfield store, the responding officer reports a multi-jurisdictional task force has been established to investigate the crimes;
11:55 a.m.: larceny, School Street, a caller from a School Street restaurant reports that an employee entered the building twice during the morning and broke into the safe to steal more than $1.200, the responding officer reports a suspect has been identified and the case is under investigation;
2:16 p.m.: breaking and entering, Mullen Avenue a caller reports her unlocked vehicle was entered on July 4 and property was stolen, the responding officer reports the victim said that her medications and her keys were stolen;
4:39 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Pochassic Road at Pinewood Lane, a patrol officer reports he observed a truck without a registration plate towing a trailer, the vehicle was stopped and the operator was cited, the operator was found to be the subject of an outstanding warrant issued in 2019 by the Holyoke district court, Brian David Clark, 26, of 624 West Road, Westfield, was arrested on the warrant, both the truck and the trailer were towed to the police impound yard;
4:42 p.m.: fraud, General Shepard Apartments, 25 Thomas St., a resident came to the station to complain of identity theft, the responding officer reports the victim said that she has learned that an account had been fraudulently opened in her name;
5:12 p.m.: suspicious discovery, Mechanic Street, a caller reports that while working in his dirt-floored basement he discovered some bones and he does not know if they are human or animal bones, the responding officer reports he took custody of the bones and advised the caller to suspend excavation efforts, the officer reports the bones were not immediately identified;
8:04 p.m.: fire, Falley Drive, a caller reports a fire, the responding firefighters report smoke was showing from the attic and eaves upon arrival, the firefighters report a fire in the attic was extinguished using water cans to minimize water damage to the house, a work light that was found to have been left on near a HVAC unit was seized and the Fire Marshall’s office was notified.
