Major crime and incident report

7:22 a.m.: Breaking and entering, JJ’s Variety, Montgomery Street. Police received a report of a store that was reportedly broken into sometime overnight with access made through rear door. Lottery tickets, cigarettes and other items reported missing.

8:50 a.m.: Accident, Russell Road. Police received a report of a two-vehicle accident. A 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer and a 2002 Buick Century were involved. Injuries were also reported and they were transported to Baystate Noble Hospital via Westfield Fire ambulance and personnel. Two tow trucks were also requested.

11:39 a.m.: Attempted breaking and entering, Westfield Spirit Shop, Southampton Road. Police received a report of a business that allegedly had an attempt to make entry at some point. According to the report by the calling party, the front door lock was jammed which had reportedly occurred due to someone attempting to make entry. Video footage was reportedly available but was not given at the time of the report and the owner was reportedly confident no entry was made. The incident is under investigation.

1:33 p.m.: Breaking and entering motor vehicle, walk-in. Police received a report from someone that reported someone had reportedly entered their car overnight and stole money. The incident reportedly occurred on Atwater Street.

1:38 p.m.: Larceny, walk-in. Police received a report of a possible larceny from Westfield Chamber of Commerce, according to police report. There was a discrepancy reported in an account, according to police.

3:13 p.m.: Accident, Maple Street. Police received a report of a tractor-trailer unit that had reportedly struck a fence while attempting to make a turn. A street sign was also reportedly damaged.

5:20 p.m.: Arrest, Mill Street and West Silver Street. Police reported that they saw a person who reportedly had a warrant out for their arrest, Patrick J. Ryan, 39, of Westfield. Police reported that Ryan, who was reportedly on a bicycle, was stopped in an attempt for police to speak to him. He allegedly attempted to ride away, according to police, including shoving away from police. Police reported that Ryan also allegedly struck police while on the ground when they had reportedly attempted to arrest him. Ryan was arrested and charged with resist arrest and assault and battery on police officer, as well as on the warrant.
