1:17 a.m.: found property, Noble Avenue, a patrol officer reports finding an abandoned bicycle, the bike was transported to the station for safe keeping;
4:17 p.m.: accident, West Silver Street, a caller reports he was struck by a van which did not stop, the responding officer reports the 16-year-old complainant said that he was riding his bike across West Silver Street in a crosswalk and thought traffic was stopping but was struck by a tan van, the bicyclist said that he was knocked from his bike but was not injured and when he moved out of the way the van drove off;
5:29 p.m.: officer wanted, a resident came to the station to surrender two pistols, ammunition and a license to carry a firearm as required by the police chief, the property was accepted for safe keeping;
6:00 p.m.: officer wanted, Park Square, a caller reports youths are riding skateboards at the Green, the responding officer reports the youths were advised that skateboarding is prohibited at Park Square and they left the area;
6:31 p.m.: arrest, Sackett Street, a community policing officer reports he learned that a known person was the subject of an outstanding warrant ,the CP officer sought the suspect at his home and found him there, John M. Lyttle, 17, of 9 Sackett St., was arrested on the warrant without incident;
9:11 p.m.: vandalism, Susan Drive, a caller reports a vehicle has “taken out” his mailbox and garbage can, the responding officer reports he removed about 10 trash barrels from the roads of the neighborhood, the officer reports that youths in a vehicle apparently grabbed onto the barrels and drove off, releasing them once the vehicle attained significant speed;
9:27 p.m.: larceny, Old Holyoke Road, a caller reports her trash barrel was stolen, the woman was advised to call the DPW in the morning;
11:18 p.m.: vandalism, Frederick Street, a caller reports a tire on her vehicle was slashed, the responding office reports the woman said that between 10-11 p.m. a tire on her vehicle was slashed, the woman said that she suspects that the incident is the latest in a series of unreported harassment incidents by a former girlfriend, the woman said that she did not report the previous efforts in an attempt to avoid escalation, the woman does not wish to pursue criminal charges and was advised of her protective order options.
