9:10 a.m.: larceny, Southampton Road, a representative of a Southampton Road business came to the station to report that property was stolen from the company’s yard, the responding officer reports the complainant said that four large used gas heaters were stolen from a scrap dealer’s container stored behind the company’s building, the complainant noted that the size and weight of the unwieldy items suggests that more than one person with a large vehicle was involved;
1:09 p.m.: commercial vehicle violation, Pleasant Street, a traffic bureau officer reports he observed a box truck operating without signage or the required Department of Transportation markings and stopped it for inspection, the officer reports the operator appeared to be nervous, had difficulty remembering his birthday and could not remember his social security number, the man said that although he has a license he did not have it with him but the officer reports the information provided verbally did not elicit any license information, the officer eventually called the man’s employer who gave him a different name for the driver and the man eventually provided his real name, the man’s license was found to have been revoked as an habitual traffic offender, David L. Mahar, 42, of 193 East St., Ludlow, was arrested for operating a motor vehicle with a license revoked as an habitual traffic offender and for being a motor vehicle operator who refuses to identify himself;
2:56 p.m.: abandoned vehicle, Lower Sandy Hill Road, a caller reports an apparently abandoned motor vehicle, the vehicle was towed to the police impound yard;
3:10 p.m.: found property, Tannery Road, a woman came to the station to surrender gun parts, the responding officer reports the woman had two revolver frames she said were found in a truck belonging to her mother and asked that police accept the items for safekeeping or destruction, the revolver frames were forwarded to the evidence officer;
3:48 p.m.: suspicious activity, East Mountain Road, a caller reports a customer’s vehicle was broken into while she was paying a bill, the responding officer reports the victim showed him two gouges in the dashboard near the shifter and said that the shifter has been damaged so it will not shift into gear, nothing is missing from the car and there are no other signs of entry, the owner called a motor club for assistance;
5:13 p.m.: larceny, Monroe Street, a resident came to the station to complain that his ATM card was stolen, the responding officer reports the man said that he suspects the card was stolen by one of two guests who were at his home the night before but said he knows neither of their names, the officer reports that the card has been used at least once in the local area;
6:13 p.m.: assist other agency, Barnes Municipal Airport, Airport Road, caller from the Air National Guard security group reports a male party is walking on the runways, the responding officer reports a male party walking on a municipal portion of the airport said that he had scaled a fence and was walking across the runways as a shortcut to access a field of wild mushrooms, a criminal complaint for trespass was filed.
