WESTFIELD – Westfield on Weekends’ PumpkinFest is returning in person Oct. 16.

This will be the fifth PumpkinFest and could be the biggest ever, said organizers Bob Plasse and Jason Polan.

“We are so excited to bring PumpkinFest back to the community in person,” said Plasse, WOW president and PumpkinFest co-chair. “We missed these events so much last year and cannot wait to celebrate with people again.”

Polan agreed.

“WOW was able to keep the spirit of PumpkinFest alive last year and I think everyone is ready for this year,” said Polan, event co-chair, noting that all current COVID guidelines will be followed the day of the event.

There are several new aspects to PumpkinFest this year, including the location: festivities have been moved to the field behind the Boys and Girls Club and the Amelia Park complex.

“We worked with the top city officials to determine the safest possible location and we all believe this will provide for a safe, fun, spacious event,” said Polan.

There will be a local craft and vendor fair with over 100 participants organized by Western Mass Shop Local, a Trunk or Treat by All Stars Dance Center, touch-a-truck, pumpkin decorating with the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Westfield, food and refreshment sales and much more. The fourth and last of the Westfield Concert Series Powered by The Westfield Gas + Electric will also take place at the event.

Organizers said they are still working out the details but “want everyone to save the day,” said Plasse.

Last year,  PumpkinFest had a pandemic spin and included the outdoor self-guided Haunted House Tour and Scarecrow Trail, both of which will be part of the fun this year from Oct. 16-31.

“Those aspects of PumpkinFest were so successful and fun last year that we couldn’t bring back PumpkinFest without them,” said Polan.

Any city residents or business owners who would like to participate in the tour, trail or the in person event should contact WOW via it’s Facebook page or email via Westfield on weekends.com.

More details will be shared as PumpkinFest organizers finalize plans.
