According to the MassDOT yesterday: Physical work on rehabbing the stone arch started on the Pochassic Street Bridge on October 1, 2012. An agreement has been signed between MassDOT and CSX ,which is getting us closer to seeing more construction activity. MassDOT and CSX must still receive, review and approve Verizon’s temporary utility bridge and relocation plans. This must happen before bridge demolition can occur.

This is in response to the person who questioned why runners/joggers run on the side of the road on Court St and Western Ave as opposed to running on the sidewalks. Have you taken a WALK on those sidewalks lately? They are lumpy and bumpy with tree roots popping up, not to mention the cracks and craters. It is safer to run on the side of the road to avoid stumbling. I know; believe it or not, those roads are smoother than the sidewalks. As a jogger myself, I have seen seen those sidewalks firsthand. I always run on the sidewalks if they are safe to do so. Otherwise, I stay on the side of the road as close to the grass as possible. Runners need to run on the correct side of the road and drivers need to be wary of them. “Share the road,” as the saying goes.
