SOUTHWICK – The Southwick-Tolland Regional High School baseball team combined solid pitching and sharp hitting to knock off visiting Gateway 10-1 Tuesday.
Jake Goodreau (2 hits, 2 RBIs), Andrew Mitchell (2 RBI), Nick Massarelli (2 hits, RBI), and Ross Lebo (2 hits) led the 9-hit parade for Southwick (3-1).
Rams’ pitchers Bob Hamel (8 Ks), Nick Massarelli (2 Ks), and Brian Sheil (3 Ks) combined to shut down Gateway.
SOFTBALL
NORTH ADAMS – The Southwick-Tolland Regional softball team shut out McCann Tech on the road Tuesday, 14-0.
Jordyn Willey struck out five batters and walked none on the mound for Southwick, while Rams’ Jenn Yellin went 2-for-3 with 3 RBIs.
Southwick improved to 3-1.
JUNIOR VARSITY BASEBALL
Southwick 13, Gateway 11
The JV Rams (3-0) overcame a last inning surge by Gateway, and held on to win 13-11.
Joey Stratton did not get the decision but pitched three solid innings for Southwick. Rams’ Nick Labodycz earned the win pitching the final four frames.
Offensive leaders were Travis Pirello with 2 singles, a two bagger and four RBI. Nick Labodycz and Brian Mickalay contributed 2 hits (including a triple) and singles from John Gonet, Pat Mahoney, Joey Stratton, Adam Lane, Dan McLellan and Jake Racoulle.
