SOUTHWICK – Snowflakes might be absent from the skies these days, but for the Southwick High School girls’ basketball team it truly has been a “White-out” these days.
Southwick freshman McKinley White led the team in scoring for the second straight game to begin the season, and the Rams improved to 2-0 with a convincing 45-19 win over visiting Smith Academy Thursday night.
White followed up an 11-point performance on opening night with 16 points Thursday against Smith.
“It was a good team win,” Southwick coach Mike Gill said.

Ashley Shea and Haley Parker, finished with nine and eight points, respectively, for the Rams.
In JV action, Southwick trounced Smith, 48-21, behind an 11-point effort from Emily Giancola.

Colts spoil WHS’ home opener
Chicopee Comp 63, Westfield 37
Chicopee Comp’s Molly Willette (15 points) and Ashley Rouleau (13) combined for 28 points as the Colts spoiled Westfield’s home opener Thursday night.
Alexis Wood and Alexa Morin led Westfield (0-2) with nine points apiece. Wood and Elyza Colson each made a 3-pointer.
