WESTFIELD – Junior forward Emmanuel Asiedu scored two second-half goals to lead Rhode Island College to a 2-1 victory over Westfield State University in a non-conference men's soccer game Tuesday.
RIC is 6-5-4 overall while Westfield drops to 4-10.
Asiedu opened the scoring with an unassisted goal in the 51st minute. Ten minutes later, Asiedu scored his team-high ninth goal of the season on an assist from Camilo Estrada.
Westfield sliced the RIC in half on Kristian Driscoll's goal off a corner kick in the 72nd minute. Ryan Nickerson and Dan Brady were credited with assists.
Westfield State outshot RIC, 12-11, which included an 8-6 edge in shots on goal. RIC goalie Douglan Morgan made seven saves. Owl keeper Keith Hevey had four saves.
