Saints blank Commerce; Tigers tied

WESTFIELD – Alison Stanlewicz scored one goal in each half, and Darby Bailey tallied a second-half goal as the St. Mary High School girls’ soccer team swept Commerce, 3-0 at Westfield North Middle School yesterday.
Monica Petersen assisted both teammates with their goals.
Saints’ goalie Francesca Debergolo (6 saves) earned the shutout.

Westfield Voc-Tech 0, Franklin Tech 0
Brandi VanGelder and Siena Sorel played well in their final home games on Tuesday. The team honored the two seniors – the team’s only seniors – in a private pregame ceremony. Then, the team, backed by an spectacular game in goal from Megan Ilnicky (16 saves) and defender Katie Nesmelova, pitched a shutout against its opponent.

BOYS’ SOCCER
Belchertown 2, Southwick 1
Dan Lane scored the lone goal for Southwick, on assists from Declan O’Donnell and Ryan Todesco. Adam Jensen and Dan Sullivan provided strong goaltending. Brett Giddes, Austin Leary, Riley O’Connor, and Will Pratt were solid on defense.
It was a marked improvement for Southwick, which lost to Belchertown 3-0 earlier this season.
