WESTFIELD – If you’re looking to stay physically active during these solitary times while practicing social distancing, there is one local golf course promising worry-free workouts.
Shaker Farms Country Club, located at 866 Shaker Road, is still open for business amidst these uncertain times.
“You can come in here and golf and it’s a touch-free thing,” Shaker Farms Country Club owner Nancy Kotowicz said.
While local gyms have been forced to close their doors, golf is one of the last sports that is attempting to maintain some sort of normalcy.
“Golf will do the mind good,” Kotowicz said.
Kotowicz said that Shaker Farms is following all local, state, and federal guidelines.
For example, golfers are now permitted to take their balls out of the sand trap rather than having to use the rakes. There is also now a one cart per person limit. Additional carts are provided free of charge. The pro shop is also limiting the number of people allowed in at one time.
“This is a no-touch exercise that anybody can do,” Kotowicz said.
Hot dogs, chips, and drinks (no alcohol) will be provided.
As of press time, no determination had been made regarding the upcoming Easter egg hunt and Easter brunch, although Kotowicz said they are unlikely to take place.
Shaker Farms Country Club is open daily from 8 a.m.-7 p.m., weather permitting.
