BOSTON – Westfield State freshman Alex Frazier (Dracut/Dracut, Mass.) won the 1000 freestyle and 100 backstroke events, and classmate Monique Groux (Agawam/Agawam, Mass.) claimed the 1 and 3 meter diving titles, but Westfield State fell to Simmons College 194-90 in the season opening swim meet for the Owls.
Frazier swam a time of 12:00.46 in the 1000, and touched the wall in the 100 back in 1:08.11
Groux scored 199.73 in 1-meter diving.
Rebecca Pierce (Chelmsford/Chelmsford, Mass.) won the 100 IM in 1:07.89.
Westfield will be back in action at the Smith Relays in Northampton next Saturday.
