Longmeadow goalie Kayla Brown finished with 17 saves.
It was just the first loss for Longmeadow (1-1), which opened with a 3-0 win over Algonquin thanks to goals from Kyra Ashe, Jordan Kowalski, and Lauren Munster and a shutout by Brown (13 saves).

GOURDE WORMS PAST FIELD IN EARLY BIRD TOURNEY: 220-pound senior captain Johnny Gourde led Westfield at the Longmeadow Early Bird Tournament Saturday, grabbing hold of a bronze medal behind the strength of four first-period pins.
Westfield senior captain Cole Cannady (120 pounds) finished fourth with three first-period pins. Junior Isaac Santos (126) just missed the podium, finishing with three first-period pins. Junior Vitalliy Borodin (138) also just missed the podium with three first-period pins. Freshman Nick Clauson (145) had two pins and the most exciting match of the day – a thrilling triple overtime victory over Hampshire’s Mason Willard. Another freshman, Can Foster (152) wrestled well as he completed the day 2-2 with two pins.
Junior Jack Yvon (160) also went 2-2, losing an early round match against top-seeded Koby Ouimette (Smith Vocational), 4-3. Sophomore Doug Rogers (170), another 2-2 finisher, had a pin and a hard-fought 5-4 win over Northampton’s James Biddulph.
At heavyweight, sophomore Johann Shieppe avenged a close loss a week ago by pinning South Hadley’s Joe Goncalves. Shieppe also defeated Chicopee’s Josh Calson 10-9 to go 2-2.
