SOUTHWICK – The Southwick-Tolland Regional High School baseball team is in a good place.
On Thursday, Southwick beat a solid Monson baseball squad, doubling up the visiting Mustangs 4-2. Nick Masserelli tossed a complete game, 3-hitter for the Rams, who improved to a sparkling 5-1. He recorded 10 strikeouts and walked one.
“He threw phenomenal,” Southwick coach Tim Karetka said of the team’s ace. “He was really good the whole game. He just controlled the ball well, limited his pitches, and kept them off the bag – and they’re a good team.”
The Southwick offense received a boost from Ross Lebo (3 hits), Kyle Manley (1 hit, 2 RBIs), Cam Felix (hit, RBI), Jake Goodreau (hit), and Masserelli (hit). Manley’s RBI single in the sixth inning provided a bit of insurance for the Rams.
“It was a good win for us,” coach Karetka said.
