SOUTHWICK – Work on Southwick’s roads is expected to wrap-up for the winter in the next week.
Chief Administrative Officer Karl Stinehart said phase one of the lengthy project, which was the drainage portion of the state project, is nearly complete.
“They are now working from Town Hall south to Depot Street,” said Stinehart.
Workers are finishing up the temporary paving that will take the roads through the winter.
“We will have meetings throughout the winter and the work will begin again in spring,” said Stinehart.
The spring construction will include widening of College Highway and construction of sidewalks on both sides of the road.
Richard Grannells of the Department of Public Works offered a review of the road project, which began this past August, to business owners this fall . He said a completion date is set for Aug. 8, 2012.
“It includes widening of the road to add a third lane, installation of 58 new decorative lights and new drainage,” said Grannells.
Sean Sullivan of the Department of Transportation expects road work to resume April 1.
