SOUTHWICK – The Southwick summer music scene will sizzle with weekly live concerts sponsored by the Southwick Rotary Club beginning in July.

The annual Summer Music Series was interrupted last year by COVID-19, but organizers said they are thinking positive thoughts for 2021.

“The Club is taking a positive approach to host this summer program given that there are still issues with COVID-19,” said Rotary Fundraising Chair Robert Fox. “We all are in hopes that the pandemic will be way under control by early summer.”

The concerts are slated for Wednesday nights from July 14-Aug. 25 at Whalley Park. Concerts begin at 6 p.m.

There is also a “float-in” concert Sept. 1 on South Pond. All concerts are free to the public. Fox said the Rotary Club will follow the current protocols for safety as set by the Commonwealth and the Town of Southwick.

Southwick Summer Music Series schedule includes:

July 14 – Rich Badowski Blues Band (40s-50s blues songs, roots music, old-time country, and funk).

July 21 – Savage Brothers Band (six-piece funkin,’ rockin,’ and rhythm, featuring a two-piece horn section).

July 28 – Coyote River Band (modern country and pop/rock).

Aug. 4 – 91 South (60s-80s classic rock including Beatles, The Stones, The Doors, Billy Joel, Bon Jovi, and AC/DC).

Aug. 11 – Jeff Pitchell and his band, Texas Flood (a high-energy mix of R&B, Rock Soul, Pop and, funky Texas Blues).

Aug. 18 – Mac & Vinnie Band (acoustic rock band, a mix of songs by The Grateful Dead, The Band, The Who, Rolling Stones, U2, Neil Young, Don Henley, Cold Play, and Johnny Cash).

Aug. 25 – James Montgomery and The Kings (high-energy blues band with an attitude – From Detroit to the Delta)!

Sept. 1 – Mac & Vinnie Band (a float-in boat event to be held on Lake Congamond, South Pond).

Fox thanked the Southwick Cultural Council and local businesses for their support.

“We will have details to follow on the music series as we get closer to the event,” Fox stated in a release.
