SOUTHWICK- The Southwick-Tolland-Granville Regional School District is accepting bids to purchase used school transportation vehicles until April 8 at 10 a.m..

Five vehicles are up for bid: a 2008 Dodge GR Caravan SE, a 2009 Chrysler Town and Country, a 2009 GMC/Thomas Minotour, a 2010 Thomas Freightliner school bus, and a 2011 GMC/Thomas Minotour.

Each vehicle has between 94,000 and 145,000 miles of use on them. Their average estimated values are between $2,200 and $3,500, far less than their original purchasing price.

When private bids are closed on Thursday, a Zoom meeting will be opened up where public bids can then be made. All vehicles are being sold “as is.”

Bids that are being submitted before April 8 can be brought in a sealed envelope to the Superintendent of Schools Office at 86 Powder Mill Road, Southwick. The envelopes must be marked “Surplus Vehicles Bid.”

The five vehicles were included in the FY22 STGRSD budget as items that could be sold to recoup some money, a practice that is typical as some vehicles in the district’s fleet become old and expensive to maintain.

Questions about the vehicles or the bidding process can be directed to Director of Finance and Operations Stephen Presnal at 413-569-5391 or [email protected].
