Special State Election information from Southwick Town Clerk

Southwick Town Clerk Michelle L. Hill offers the following Special State Election information:

1. Election date was moved to Tuesday May 19, 2020

2. Last Day to register to vote has been moved to May 8, 2020, so if you did not make the March 11, date to register, you have added time. To register by mail or online, click here https://www.sec.state.ma.us/ovr/

3. Early Voting by MAIL ONLY has been added to the voting option a. How do I obtain an application? Visit southwick.ma.org; b. When is the last day to obtain an application, May 18 before noon; c. When do ballots have to be returned after filing an application? Before the close of the polls on May 19 which is 8 p.m.; d. How do I get the application to the Town Clerk? Regular mail, scan and email to [email protected], drop in the green mailbox as you drive into the Town Hall parking lot, or fax 413-569-0667’. e. Your ballot will state “absentee” on the ballot, but the envelope will indicate the method choice you have chosen.

4. Absentees Voting is still an option; a. How do I obtain an application? Visit southwickma.org; b. When is the last day to obtain an application, May 18 before noon; c. When do ballots have to be returned after filing an application? Before the close of the polls on May 19 which is 8 p.m.; How do I get the application to the Town Clerk? 5. Will there still be an “in person” voting option? Yes, the polls will run with a skeleton crew on May 19, 2020

6. OTHER, under Chapter 45 of the Acts of 2020, to avoid added cost to the commonwealth, the current ballots that state “March 31, 2020” will still be used for the May 19, 2020 rescheduled date. a. All absentee ballots received for this election prior to the date change will carry forward to the new date. NO need to reapply.

7. Selectmen are reviewing options to reschedule the Annual Town Meeting for May 19. Stand by for future updates.
