St. Mary Powers past Putnam

WESTFIELD – St. Mary pitchers Quinn Powers (6 Ks, 1 hit) and Kevin Rockwal (1 K, 0 hits) hurled a combined one-hitter and the Saints’ offense battered Putnam to the tune of a 15-0, five-inning rout Wednesday at Westfield Middle School North.
St. Mary was quick out of the gate with three runs scored over the first two innings. The Saints exploded for seven runs in the fourth and five more in the fifth.

Shaun Gezotis (2 doubles, 3 runs, RBI) and Jon Daley (double, run, 3 RBIs) led St. Mary at the plate with three hits apiece. Matt Masciadrelli (2 runs, RBI) and Nate Bonini (double, 2 runs, 4 RBIs) each had two hits for the Saints.
St. Mary’s Jack Lamirande collected the first hit of his high school career.

Brownies nip Bombers
Agawam 6, Westfield 4

Agawam scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to break a 4-4 tie before rain postponed the completion of Wednesday’s contest. The game was called with one out in the bottom of the fifth.
Sean Moorhouse (2 RBIs) and Mason St. Pierre (2 runs) each collected two hits for Westfield. Austin St. Pierre (run, RBI), Anthony Clark (run), and Matt Hastings had the only other Bombers’ hits.

Adams, Indians silence Rams
Ware 16, Southwick 1

Ware pitcher Ivan Adams scattered three hits, struck out four batters and walked none, and the Indians piled up 16 runs at home.
Connor Roy, Bart Shea and Brandon Seymour had the lone hits for Southwick. Tyler Orban scored a run, and Seymour collected an RBI.

Murphy collects two extra base hits
Sci-Tech 19, Westfield Technical Academy 15

Sci-Tech pulled ahead with a seven-run sixth inning of a slugfest at Whitney Field.
Caitlin Murphy (3-for-4, 2 runs scored) doubled and tripled for Westfield Tech. Tigers’ freshman catcher Ari Levere (3-for-5, 2 runs) also had a double.
Other Westfield Tech multi-hit producers included: Hannah Massoni (3-for-5, 2 runs), Taya Allen (2-for-5, 2 runs), Jaymee Hall (2-for-5, 2 runs), and Emily Dorval (2-for-5, 2 runs).

Unbeaten Bombers sweep
Westfield def. Putnam 25-10, 25-15, 25-20

Shane Kiendzior (13 kills, 2 aces), Noah Kappel (6 kills, 7 aces, 2 blocks), Tyler Stanton (22 digs), and Luis Castro (7 assists, 5 kills, 5 digs) led Westfield, which improved to 6-0 with a three-set sweep.

JV BASEBALL
Ware 17, Southwick 16

Southwick’s Frank Wiglarz went 3-for-4 with two runs, and Matt Tullo was 3-for-4 with a double and home run.

BOYS’ TENNIS

Central 3, Westfield 2
Matt Roberts picked up a victory at second singles, and No. 1 doubles pair, Jalen Bodendorf and Erik Unger won a three-set match for Westfield 6-4, 6-7, (5-7), 6-3.
Tristin Viale lost a tough match to Hussein Abi at first singles, 1-6, 6-4, 6-2. Viale actually had five match points in the second set.

GIRLS’ TENNIS
Lenox 4, St. Mary 1

Jessica Crosby won the lone match Tuesday, defeating Lenox’s Alex Trousilek, 6-4, 7-5.
