WESTFIELD–According to Westfield Police, they have made a third arrest in connection to a Dec. 16 assault that sent one person to the hospital.
According to Westfield Police Capt. Michael McCabe, Westfield Police arrested Andrew R. McGuire, 22, of Springfield, in connection with the alleged assault that took place Dec. 16. McGuire was charged with assault and battery with serious bodily injury, while also being arrested on three additional arrest warrants.
According to McCabe, police were reportedly informed of McGuire’s location at an address in Westfield, which prompted police to locate and arrest him.
Previously, police arrested Carlos Noel, 18, and John A. Sein, III, 21, both of Westfield, in relation to the Dec. 16 assault, with Noel also facing additional charges related to an alleged Dec. 21 assault, as well.
Noel and Sein, III, were both arraigned on Dec. 26 at Westfield District Court on charges of unarmed robbery, assault and battery serious bodily injury and assault and battery with dangerous weapon in relation to the Dec. 16 incident. In addition, Noel was also arraigned on a charge of assault and battery serious bodily injury for the Dec. 21 incident.
Regarding the Dec. 16 incident, police previously reported that the alleged victim of the assault reported the incident to police at their Washington Street station around 7:30 p.m., Dec. 16. According to police, the victim was reportedly assaulted at East Bartlett Street and Phelps Avenue by three males.
According to an article in The Westfield News on Dec. 19, “Police reported that the victim claimed that one male party had approached him and initially threw him to the ground, then allegedly began punching him.”
Then, police reported that two other males had allegedly begun to punch and kick the victim. In addition, $29 was reported as stolen from the victim.
The victim was transported to Baystate Medical Center for treatment of their injuries.
