Tigers chase Saints

WESTFIELD – Heather Lannon scored in the sixth minute, and Westfield Tech never looked back in Tuesday night’s 4-0 shutout of St. Mary at Bullens Field.
The Tigers unleashed a steady stream of goals.
One minute later, Jessica Rabtor scored to make it a 2-0 lead. Sydnie Brock’s goal in the 14th minute made it 3-0. Brock later added an assist to her name on the night, dishing off to Darian Wheelock, who tallied a second-half goal.
Diana Solokhina (4 saves) earned a shutout in goal for Westfield Tech, which has now won three of its last four games.
St. Mary goalkeeper Francesca DePergola made 25 saves, and is now just 11 short of 1000 career saves.

Gators shut out PVR
Gateway 5, Pioneer Valley Regional School 0

After an own goal, Gateway exploded for four more goals en route to a road shutout Tuesday in Northfield.
Jessica Van Heynigen and Hannah Coffey scored two goals apiece. Sam Belardo, Joanna Arkoette, and Taryn Kubik had assists.

West Side turns back WHS
West Springfield 2, Westfield 0

West Springfield scored a pair of second-half goals – one each from Nikki Abel and Jordan Hoey – to defeat visiting Westfield.
Bombers’ goalie Jessica Healey finished with 19 saves.

Panthers clip Rams
Palmer 1, Southwick 0

Sydney McHugh scored the lone goal of the game, a second-half score to propel Palmer at home.
Southwick goalie Tori Richburg made six saves.

GOLF
WMASS D2 CHAMPIONSHIP

Cathedral and Belchertown proved to be the big winners at the Western Massachusetts Division 2 championship at the Cranwell Resort, Spa, & Golf Club.
Cathedral captured the team title with a score of 331. Belchertown, with 340, produced the individual champion – Ryan Chrabascz.
Chrabascz shot a 75. Joe Brosseau and Billy Marchand, both of Cathedral, tied for second with 77s.
Southwick’s James Longhi (85) and Joseph Stratton (86) just missed out on qualifying for state competition. Bradley Durand and Chris Molta finished with an 89 and 90, respectively for the Rams.
Southwick placed fifth overall in the team standings with a 350.
NOTES: In D3 action Monday, St. Mary placed fifth (376) behind D3 winner Lee (345), Monson (353), Hopkins Academy (363), and Smith Academy (372) at The Ranch Golf Club. Luke Willenborg was the top Saint with an 88.

Kelsey Johnstone had an all-around productive day for Westfield, logging 16 assists, six aces, and two blocks.
Bombers’ Meghan O’Brien finished with two kills, five aces, and eight digs; Alex Morin recorded eight kills and three aces.

Austin Davis had a hand in seven Southwick goals. Davis scored twice, and assisted on five others.
