SPRINGFIELD – There’s something special brewing at Westfield Technical Academy High School.
Nearly a quarter of the way through the 2017 season, the Westfield Tech girls’ soccer team is just one loss removed from a perfect year. Westfield Tech continued its fast start with another solid victory, a 4-0 shutout of Commerce on the road.
Senior Liliya Stepanchuk led the offensive attack with two goals. Emily White scored off a penalty kick and had an assist. Freshman Christina Mosijchuk also scored.
Westfield Tech goalies Leilani Marsh and Arianna Levere combined for five saves, and a shutout.
Commerce keeper Shenleigh Martin stopped 17 of Westfield Tech’s shots.
For the season, Westfield Tech (3-1) in its wins has outscored their opponents by a combined score of 8-1. Next up for the Tigers: the St. Mary Saints Wednesday at Jachym Field at 4 p.m.
Bombers shut out Pacers
Westfield 6, Chicopee 0
Westfield scored three goals in each half of a girls’ soccer game Monday en route to a shutout victory at home.
Chandler Pedolzky scored the first goal in the fourth minute unassisted, Catie Bean gave Westfield a 2-0 lead in the 27th minute on a pass from Jackie Asselin, and Emma Pedolzky took a pass from Chandler with 4:39 remaining in the first half for a commanding 3-0 lead.
In the opening minutes of the second half, Chandler scored off a pass from Bean. Georgina Badger (assist from Maggie Prystawksi) and Asselin (from Saige Smith) scored late.
Adrianna Arona made 12 saves for Westfield to net a shutout.
Rams fit to be tied
Southwick-Tolland 3, Granby 3
Kayla Russ, Autumn Waitt, and Gillian Ensign scored one goal apiece in a close-knit affair. Ensign and Maggie Sullivan assisted.
Southwick goalie Hannah Gerrish made 10 saves.

Southwick stays unbeaten
Southwick-Tolland 22, Amherst 2
Unbeaten Southwick (6-0) handed Amherst (4-2) only its second loss of the season with another dominating effort.
James Longhi shot a 33, Brad Durand and Matt Garrity each finished with a 41, and Jack Fairley had a 42 to lead Southwick.

Luke Willenborg shot a fantastic round of golf with a 36 to sweep his opponent at the number one slot at Wyckoff Country Club.

Three different players – Emma Barnard, Lyle Masspis, and Alyssa Pompi – scored in Southwick’s narrow victory. Sydney Gorman and Barnard each had an assist.
Southwick goalkeeper Clare Stratton finished with six saves.
Fortier tallies goal in loss

Madeleine Fortier scored the first goal of the game, netting one for Westfield on a pass from Hannah Jarvis.
Westfield keeper Gwen Smith had 36 saves.
JV GIRLS’ SOCCER
Granby 3, Southwick-Tolland 0
Southwick played well, but just could not find the back of the net.
Isabella Poules (7 saves), Hannah Burke (1 save), and Sophia Andrade pitched a combined effort in net for Southwick-Tolland. Rams’ Alivia Glynn and Marissa Langan played well at center midfield.

Philip Lisyanyy and Ruvim Suprunchuk each scored for Westfield Tech. Tigers’ Brad Marion had an assist.
Sophomore Bodhi Hall stepped in for the starting keeper, who missed the game due to illness, stepped up and made some key saves.
“It was a great, competitive hard fought game,” Westfield Tech coach Kyle Dulude said.
It was the first two goals of the season allowed by the Westfield Tech defense this season.

Southwick’s Allie Methe (1 kill, 1 ace) made seven digs; Kaitlyn Haseltine had two kills, three assists, and an ace; and Kayla Andrade had a nice all-around effort with one kill, three assists, four digs, and one ace.
